Setting Up Your Apple Mail for using Surgemail at FMPWEB

This tutorial shows you how to set up Apple Mail to work with your email account. These instructions may not reflect the most recent version of the program. The basic parameters are still relevant to newer versions.

To Set Up Your Apple Mail

  1. From the Mail menu, select Preferences.
  2. Select the Accounts tab, and click the plus sign(+) at the bottom of the Accounts box.
  3. In the Account Information screen, select POP from the Account Type list, and enter your information as follows:

    Enter the name of your account.
    Email Address
    Enter your email address.
    Full Name
    Enter your name.
    Incoming mail server (POP3)
    Type mail.yourdomain.com.
    User Name
    Enter your email address.
    Password
    Enter the password you set up for your email account.
    Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP)
    Select Add Server from the list.

  5. When the SMTP Server Options window displays, type mail.yourdomain.com in the Outgoing Mail Server field and change the Server Port setting to 587.
  6. Under the Authentication list, select Password and enter your SMTP user name (full email address) and password.
  7. Click OK.

It is simple to add a comment. Enter your email address and a 6-15 character password. If you have not previously enrolled, a confirmation will be sent to that address. If you forget your password (or do not have one yet) simply enter a new one that you will need in order to confirm your post. Your email address will never be exposed on the site.
